A date night from last fall at the McKenzie Room, an intimate space that showcases seasonal BC ingredients with tongue-in-cheek names for their dishes. We had the dinner for two at $130, served family style. Beverages for us tonight was a limoncello punch bowl for two that lasted us the meal. First course, a signature dish, chicken of the sea, a very creamy Umi terrine with shards of black brioche, pears, and hazelnuts. Next was a vadavan spiced delicata squash topped with a dukkah. An arctic char with winter vegetables and sous-vies here. The skin was crispy and the sous-vies tied the whole dish together. Our meat course was a tender braised pork collar served with its braising juices and huckleberries. To finish, an orange panna cotta with basil and mint. Join us for more food adventures. See you next time.
