Welcome out here to Sarasota Jungle Gardens. My name's Alan. I'm one of the entertainment hosts and happy National Go Birding Day. Now here at Sarasota Jungle Gardens, we have a plethora of gorgeous birds, but a lot of people do not know some fun facts about that. They can live to a very, very long life. Average lifespan 60 to 80 years old. So that's going to cue you over to grand dame of them all. Spooky or sulfur crystal cockatoo. She is 84 years old. Doesn't look a day over 20. are very, very intelligent. Average IQ is a three to five-year-old. Now, this gorgeous bird right over here, this is Fortuner African Gray. They have done studies that her IQ rivals an eight-year-old. Wow, pretty amazing, right? But one of the great things that we have to offer here at Sarasota Jungle Gardens is our bird experience. Where you can come on down, you can actually get a bird right up on your arm. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And guys, if you notice, birds are very, very loud. That is how they communicate with each other. And since it is national... National Go Birding Day, I want you to go to the park, bring the family, get a little guidebook, some binoculars, and go listen to the birds communicate and see all of our gorgeous feathered friends.
