This is Glastonbury 2023, day five, Sunday. And on a day when the Rocketman touched down before we got the hell out, this is Glastonbury. And I am Dan Thomas. And it was time to watch one of the biggest acts in the world. The Beatles and the whole gang were there from Paul, George, Ringo, John and Barry. Drawing from their early pop hits and the later psychedelic era, complete with costume and instrument changes. And on to something even bigger. So I'm at the Pyramid Stage and the crowd is waiting for Elton John. to come out and they wouldn't have to wait too long and playing to the biggest audience i've ever seen the most rumored guest performances didn't quite come to pass preferring instead to give the time to mostly newer acts playing a 21 song set to what for many people would be the last performance they'd see all weekend what happened next was a race against time and biology great as glastonbury is this next bit is called operation gtfo it's a point where many people choose to leave avoiding the peak traffic of monday afternoon now there is nothing good to look forward to from this part. A long drive home, a lot of unpacking and a lot of dirty laundry and potentially a massive queue to get out. One year it took me 16 hours to do this and I'm not doing that again. Choosing to leave at that time was both my best and worst idea. The trip was going to take two and a half hours but I hit repeated walls of tiredness and there wasn't enough Red Bull in the world. But I got home and so where can we go from here? Can I really spend another year? talking about Glastonbury especially with all the news about tickets later in the year. I'll see you then.
