Have you stayed at the Marriott Mina House in Cairo yet? I specifically picked this hotel because it's one of the only ones where you can eat breakfast with a view of the pyramids behind you. It was definitely a little bit more of a splurge than what I normally spend on hotels but I think it was worth it. Our room was large and quite spacious and we had our own private balcony and overall I think we had a really comfortable stay. For breakfast you have two different options. You can do the all-you-can-eat buffet or just order things a la carte. I actually would recommend the buffet i think the food was a little stale and not worth the money but again you can't really beat that view that you get you do want to make sure that you come early if you want to snag a seat closer to the pyramids and don't forget to watch out for these birds they were eyeing my food during breakfast i did end up coming here and ordering breakfast a la carte on a different day which i thought was much better than the buffet everything just tasted a lot better when i ordered from the menu individually i also got to enjoy some of these gliders while eating how cool is that paragliding right above the pyramids i gotta add that to my bucket list i was surprised at how large this place was and i also learned later that there was a lot of history at the mina house it had initially been a hunting lodge and then became a private residence which eventually became a hotel the mina house also opened egypt's first swimming pool in 1890 and during world war one the hotel was even converted to a hospital for wounded troops. Eventually JW Marriott took over the hotel in 2015. The hotel has a spa and a large gym. I would definitely recommend having dinner in the main dining hall at least once so that you could watch the sun setting next to the pyramids. The food for dinner was delicious and the views were unbelievably breathtaking. For one of the other nights we ended up going to the mogul room. The interior here was gorgeous and the food was amazing. The food was a little on the spicy side but I really enjoyed it. If you have time, I would definitely recommend enjoying their pool. I think the pool was really big. It might have been close to an Olympic-sized pool. Overall, I had a great time at the Marriott Mina House. The only thing is that the staff kept addressing me by saying ni hao, even though I only spoke English to them. Hopefully the Marriott can train their staff a little bit better in that area.
