Welcome back to another episode of Low-Key Eats with KP. Last week, to kick off my birthday week, I took a cooking class at Sur Le Table, and this is our menu on the screen. Now, if you're a country like me, or you just don't speak French, you probably pronounce this Sur Le Table, but I'm telling you, that's not how you say it, so don't do that. This is a great experience to do as a group, as a couple, or by yourself, because each station holds four people, and you'll get to know the people around you throughout the whole experience. All of the ingredients are prepped in advance for you so the chef does a really good job of walking you through the experience and even explaining the science behind everything as you can see here we were working on our crab cakes and we were prepping our desserts to cook while we were cooking everything else which is really cool here I am just peeling the potatoes for our shoestring french fries are gonna be salt and vinegar french fries which were really good and my friend is using a little mandolin to slice them I'm trying to use mine the best knife skills here and slice them into very thin strips so that they are shoestring. Check out those knife skills. This also let me know that I need to sharpen all of my knives at home. So yeah we were taking the stems out of our parsley and now you can see me kind of just roughly chopping it here trying to remember all of the knife skills that he was teaching us and I felt like a professional you can tell me nothing. My friend here is sauteing the asparagus which I wish y'all could have seen me chop because I was using my knife skills there too but we then tossed it in our vinaigrette. after we shocked in the ice bath. I feel like I did a really good job making those crab cakes and here she is cooking them up. Here are our shoestring fries after they've been fried and tossed into the vinegar and salt and parsley. Now this is where it got tricky. The chef had us make our own aioli from scratch without a blender. So yeah, that was really hard. We definitely did break it, but he helped us fix it. And this was the end product. It was so good. Y'all, those crab cakes. were hitting that is our classmates plate that's my plate and we just had a really good time it made us feel like professionals it was a lot of fun we're super proud of our end product this is our crustless blueberry pie we made some homemade whipped cream and put some cinnamon on top i didn't capture me tasting the food but y'all that's because i was tearing it up it was so delicious but here's me trying our dessert and i'm not normally a fan of hot fruit i know that's weird but i I struggle with textures, but this, this was delicious. That whipped cream was on point. You also get a discount of everything in the store if you take a class. Now here they are singing me happy birthday because they found out that I was doing this to celebrate the beginning of my birthday week. And y'all, I never know what to do when people are singing to me. I'm actually very awkward. It makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable, but I appreciated them taking the time just to acknowledge my birthday. It was really sweet. And yeah, if you haven't taken a class, I definitely highly suggest it.
