Have you ridden in a Waymo in San Francisco yet? I've been wanting to try these self-driving cars forever and I finally got a chance to do so in the city. I downloaded the app and it looks like they're only available in San Francisco and parts of Daily City. I requested a car for me and my friend and it took about six minutes to arrive. While I was waiting, I did want to check the rates against Uber and Lyft. It looks like Lyft would have been about $15, which is pretty comparable, but I was surprised by Uber. Only $9, which is quite a big difference. Our car arrived and I had to use the app to unlock the door. Once we got in I had to tap on start ride for the car to get moving. I would recommend putting on your seatbelt before tapping on this because the car very aggressively told me to put on my seatbelt with its beeping. This was my first time trying Waymo and it was such a cool experience. It was so weird being in a car without a driver. We had some options around what kind of music we wanted to listen to and the temperature and more. Overall the car felt safe and we got to our destination. As the Waymo approaches Taylor Street, the focus is again directed towards the center console where the handle pull instruction appears on the screen. I got a notification for feedback and my receipt via email. Although this wasn't the most economical way for us to travel, it was still a really fun experience. Are you ready to try Waymo?
