Besides the fact that I never once used the public bathrooms outside or in any of the restaurants, I have used the bathroom in my own room which looks pretty ordinary. Only difference is that it has a spray hose that you can use to clean the inside. One thing to note is that the sewage system in Thailand is not designed to flush quantities of toilet paper used by westerners. This is due primarily to the design of the Thai sewage system and the toilet paper being less soluble. So make sure to put your waste in the bin beside the toilet. Hope this helps.
