A brand new amusement park in Waterloo, Iowa opened up in June of 2022. It may have the best theme of any regional theme park I've ever been to. Look at this entrance. It's so grand. This was our day at Lost Island Theme Park. We got there and somehow it was cold. So my wife got a hoodie. Looking fresh, wife. Looking fresh. Here's a view of some of the rides. But the first ride we had to go to was Volcano. Their Sally Dark Ride. This is one of the best shooting dark rides I've ever been on. It's easily the best dark ride in the Midwest. It starts off with this show scene showing off a volcano and that you're shooting at these idols throughout the ride trying to save Lost Island. The queue is beautiful and the ride itself has a great balance of screen-based 3D and animatronics. And this animatronic is in the queue line. It is so well done and tells you all about your quest that you're about to go on. Seriously, Lost Island, you do not have to... go this hard but i appreciate that you did this really sets the scene for a great ride we'll show off more of the queue here there's a really cool sign you can read it while you're waiting in line even the loading and unloading station is super neat looking a trip to lost island without riding this dark ride just wouldn't make any dang sense after that had to get my priorities in had to get my coaster credits this is their wacky worm i don't remember the name of it i actually don't remember the name of many of the rides here but getting that credit in unfortunately this is the best roller coaster at the park then got the second coaster in their slc this is me booing it i'm having a zen rides i'm just riding this by myself this was my 450th roller coaster and it beat me to hell and back just like every slc out there man it just really beats you up you get to the bottom of this drop here in just a second um there's screams i just scream i scream so much and it hurts and then i go through this inversion part and it feels like i'm getting slapped in the back by a two by four man it's rough i tell you what but you don't come to these parks for the coasters at least not this year i was impressed by their drop tower yeah this is the queue for it and it even has a pre-show for the drop tower it's so well done that it almost confuses the iowa people why they have to stand here and watch this show it's pretty funny i will say the highlight of this ride is the queue. The ride itself is pretty good. It's not like the best drop tower out there but it gets the job done. What impresses me about this park is that they actually designed their own characters and you see them in the theming and through the different areas of the park. The park actually has five different realms throughout it. This is like the snow realm. The dark ride was in the fire. You'll see more as we go along here. This right here, I don't remember the name of it, is the second favorite ride at the park. This is footage of people that don't know how to ride it. They're not even rocking. and you try to flip on it. You'll see it later. Here's an overview of the park. The Ferris wheel is also a must ride. You'll see a little coaster off to the right, but I'll talk about that here in just a second. This park is beautiful, and while it's not big, it has the bones to become something awesome. Here's an overview of the snow realm. This is probably the most popular part of the park as it stands. This is like an earthy tree area. There's a log flume ride that's going in, and this coaster, that green one, is probably going to be opening up next year. This is their disco ride. ride in action. I don't remember the name of it. I don't remember the names of most of the rides here. They all have this unique theme to it. It's just hard to remember the names. This coaster, when it opens, will be the premier coaster by Intamin. The theming is great. I've probably said that eight times in this video, but here's another example of the theming being great. Here's a cool interactive fountain. Loved it. And they also have food here. Yeah, it's pretty tasty. Hmm. Here's another interactive play area where you can play music. Hyde from In The Loop is jamming here. Good work, Hyde. Proud of you, man. You're a musician by heart. Yeah. Later on in the day, we went back to this ride where you can move the wings, rock back and forth. The goal is to invert yourself. We rode this thing in the wind and I flipped 12 times on it. One of the other In The Loop guys got 22 flips on it. It's a must ride. And here's a fountain here. The park is just beautiful. I cannot wait to see what... this park becomes. If you have a chance to go to Waterloo, Iowa, I highly recommend especially next year when that coaster and log flume open up.
